21 weeks

This post is a couple days late in coming, but I've been a bit busy.  I know, you've all been waiting ever-so-patiently, right?  Right.  Because you just sit around and wait for me to write on here.  Don't deny it, embrace it.

Anyway, Baby Dahl is now 21 weeks!  It is about 11 inches long and 3/4 of a pound.  Which really doesn't give me an excuse to have gained 12 pounds, since Baby is less than one.  Whatever, I like my round belly.  There is definitely no disguising the fact that I'm pregnant now.  But Baby has fully functioning blood circulation, and organs are continuing to mature.  The digestive system is now crudely functioning, and Baby is swallowing and processing amniotic fluid.

The main thing that Baby is doing from now until it pops out is growing.  In the next 20 weeks or so, it needs to put on 8 pounds (approx.).  Grow Baby Grow!

I feel it moving all the time now, although it's still easiest to feel when I'm sitting or lying on my back.  It's squirming around right now, actually!  It still isn't strong enough for Kevin to feel on the outside of my stomach, but it shouldn't be too long now.  And then eventually, we'll even be able to see my stomach move when Baby kicks!  Craziness!  But Baby has found a new joy in life, and it is called "Mom's Bladder Is Exactly Like A Trampoline, And I'm A Gymnast!"  Ok, kind of a long title.  But it does describe Baby's newest pastime quite accurately.

Kevin's friends Casie and Tony in Rochester just had a baby girl yesterday.  They named her Stella Ruth.  I'm guessing Ruth is a family name, just like we're considering Mae for middle names since it has roots on both sides of our family.  And I love the name Stella.  It's actually on my list if Baby Dahl is a girl.  Although now it belongs to Casie and Tony, so I think I'll take it off our list.  Too bad, Stella Mae would have been fantastic.

  1. I love reading your journey to mommyhood! I know we haven't met but this does make me feel like we have; plus, I know that any gal that Kevin would marry is obviously AWESOME. Thanks for sharing your pregnancy with the world, it's fun to hear about something that still sort of freaks me out a bit. :-)

I love the name Stella too, it's friggin' adorable. Bryan and I are also on the "May/Mae" train whenever we have a girl (if we have on). We're actually planning on going with Mayadelle, my mom (and Val's mom) mom's name. Yeah. That made sense. Kevin and my grandma. But I think her nickname would be Maybe... like Maeby Funke from Arrested Development. :-)

Anyways, I'm very excited for you and love reading this blog.
